This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Melissa and James’ storybook wedding! It took place at Black Diamond Gardens, which for those of you not familiar with the location, it is about 45 minutes South of Seattle and has lush gardens, beautiful views of the Cascades and a huge enclosed greenhouse where they host receptions.
Melissa and James tended to every last detail of their wedding. They started their day with the Chinese Tea Ceremony where Melissa wore a floral embroidered red cheongsam. I loved every part of the ceremony and watching the guests be served tea by the couple, and the exchange of wise words and exquisite gifts.
Next came their ceremony and reception. The ceremony was in the middle of the day, and we lucked out having tons of sunshine. They surprised guests with lots of music, and the grooms’ brother serenaded almost guests with his amazing voice. Afterward, guests were treated to a luxurious cocktail hour, followed by dinner in the greenhouse.
The greenhouse decor was extraordinary and reminded me of a soft watercolor painting with all its delicate florals and soft colors. One of the most touching elements were the hundreds of paper cranes crafted by family and hung from the ceiling. Melissa then changed into her third ensemble of the day, a pale pink-peach sequined gown with a low back and small train. She could not have been more beautiful!
The highlight for many had to be when the couple hit the dance floor with some dance numbers that were amazing to watch! They had their guests cheering and ready to join in the minute the first dances were over. S’mores were served over the fire pit and the night was capped off with Melissa and Jame running through the longest tunnel of sparklers I’ve ever seen.
I’ll be sharing many (MANY) more photographs, the details of their sumptuous affair, and their love story after all the photos are processed and the film scans are back. For now, here is a little taste of their wedding!
Congratulations Melissa and James!
