| Karen & Collin | Winter Engagement Session: Arizona Desert | Lost Dutchman State Park, Apache Junction | Christina Servin Photographs

Sometimes you have to wake at the crack of dawn to get the shot. Not just any shot, the shot. When I first talked with Karen and Collin about their engagement session they were 100% down with a desert shoot with the backdrop of the extraordinary Superstition Mountains. We chose to shoot at Lost Dutchman State Park Named after the fabled lost gold mine, Lost Dutchman State Park is located in the Sonoran Desert, 40 miles east of Phoenix. It’s a bit of a trek for couples, but completely worth it! I also loved the variety of light we had. We went from nice cool soft light in the shade, to warm and vibrant oranges as the sun rose!

There was a special energy with this shoot because Karen had been traveling and had not seen Collin for quite a few days before their session. They hugged each other so tight and were all smiles. It was such a joy to photograph their love story! Congratulations Karen and Collin!
