This past Thanksgiving my family and I shared the holiday with good friends of ours in Snoqualmie Pass at their beautiful cabin nestled in the snowy mountains. Our kids are just a few weeks apart in age so they loved getting to spend time playing together.
We decided it would be the perfect time to shoot their holiday card, so we headed up the street to Alpental Ski Resort at the The Summit at Snoqualmie. Since the snow was just starting to come down we got lucky and had the Alpental Covered Bridge all to ourselves!
Next we headed to a nearby lake! The clouds were so heavy that it was like a blanket over the water, producing the most mystical soft effect. I love love LOVE these photos and especially love how the reds pop against the backdrop!
Since our friend Mike is a chef at Blue Ribbon Cooking School in Seattle, I figure that no story would be complete without featuring him cooking up a storm (note the three different kinds of turkey!!) on Thanksgiving.
Oh, and I had my first gnocchi making lesson! I now know the secrets to making it at home. Brown buttered sage sauce with butternut squash gnocchi is my new favorite.
